Norton Online Backup is compatible with both Mac and PC. A great feature especially if you utilize the option to backup 5 different computers. Norton also offers file sharing for any file that has been backed up and you don’t have to worry about sending huge files through email. Norton sends an email to the recipient allowing them to access your file without having to download any proprietary software. Norton also allows for security options requiring the recipient to use a password.
Where Norton Online Backup makes it’s name, security. When you think of Norton, you think of Norton Anti-virus, one of the better anti-virus software's out there, so it’s not surprising their security with their online backup software is robust. With Norton, files transfer securely with 128-bit SSL encryption and are stored on 256-bit AES encrypted servers spread throughout the US. With file redundancy and block-level incremental storage you don’t have to worry about them ever losing your files.
Norton Online Backup offers easy to access and use customer service. Norton has several products already out on the market and therefore has developed a good customer service center. Norton offers a few helpful resources for additional support, like their knowledge base and FAQ section, as well as 24/7 assistance over email, phone, or online chat.
In the end, Norton Online Backup offers good services and excellent security. We found their customer service center to be very steam-lined and effective and their security to be what you would expect from Norton. They offer the standard package of features like file versioning, sharing and multi-computer backups. We were disappointed in their lack of mobile device programs and their pricing for just a meager 25GB’s. Overall they are a good service for the price, if you don’t mind paying yearly.
