Sugar Sync, like their name implies, focuses on their file syncing technology and features. Sugar Sync allows for users to sync multiple computers, including Macs and PCs. Sugar Sync also has an advanced file-and-folder sharing service that is more robust than many of their competitors.

Sugar Syncs focus on features does come at a price to their storage options though. They offer less data than many of their competitors, with their basic package only offering 30GB’s of storage. However if you are a more feature oriented user than this is a service that is really worth checking out.

1. Multiple Computer Syncing – This is the best feature of Sugar Sync, the ability to sync more than one computer (up to 5) together plus their compatibility with Macs and PCs. You can easily drag-and-drop a file and have it available to multiple work computers, business users or team-members working on the same project.
2. File and Folder Sharing – Sugar Sync offers a robust file and folder sharing feature. You can share files and folder and password encrypt them. This is great for students, businesses and professionals. You can share the link and password with another person, like a client and allow them to have access to those files.
3. Social Media Integration – Sugar Sync has developed their sharing to include the ability to load images to Facebook. A really great feature for someone looking to not only backup their photos but also easily share them with friends and family.
4. Remote Access – This is a basic feature that every online backup company has but it still is something that we just love to talk about because of how helpful and useful this feature is.
5. Automated Backup – While Sugar Sync doesn’t offer that much storage in their plans, they do have good features like automated backups, a peace-of-mind service!

Sugar Sync: Security and Encryption

Sugary Sync uses SSL 3.3 encryption when you are syncing files to their servers. Once the files are on the servers they are encrypted with 128 bit AES encryption and secured so that only you can access the files.

Sugar Sync also provides the ability to password protect their shared folders and the ability to set if users besides your self have the ability to make changes to the files in those folders. While the security isn’t of the highest grade, it is acceptable and good enough for most users.

Sugar Sync: Customer Support

Customer support from Sugar sync is well done. They provide a user forum that often contains the answers you need, plus you can email them for support, use their online chat support and even call them for over-the-phone support. Sugar Sync also provides video tutorials. They do not however provide a knowledge base, instead relying on the forum.

Also offered by Sugar Sync for download is their user’s guide, a quick start guide and the ability to leave feedback. Sugar Sync definitely offers some of the best customer service options we have reviewed.

Verdict

Sugar Sync is a fine cloud backup company. They offer some of the most developed features for online backup with mobile access, file-and-folder sharing, multiple computer syncing and more. They also provide a multitude of ways to get help from their customer service. However their security is average at best and they do not provide the best options for storage plans.
